Hopper Pumps, also known as the Wide Throat Pumps are a type of Progressive Cavity Pumps. The wide throat inlet of these pumps allows very thick media to flow smoothly without pulsations. The augur-on-coupling rod pushes the media to the pumping element. Extremely difficult media with high solid content and non-flowing properties can be handled easily due to the twin paddle bridge breaker arrangement at the top of the pump. These pumps can be customized as per the customer requirements. Hopper pumps are also available in close-coupled and bare shaft configurations.
The maximum capacity of Hopper Pumps is 200m3/hr, and these pump can easily handle pressure up to 36 bar. These pumps can be customized with various materials such as stainless steel, fabricated steel, cast iron, and fabricated stainless steel. A wide array of accessories are available with these pumps such as a dry-running protection device, pressure switch, pressure, vacuum and differential gauge, relief valve, and strainer.
These accessories facilitate smoother operation and help prevent damage to the pump. For example, a special temperature sensor is installed on the stator to monitor its operating temperature. It helps in preventing the damage done to the stator due to the dry running of the stator. Also, the pressure switch installed in the pump protects the pump. This accessory ensures that no damage is done to the pumps due to over pressurization.
